Get ready to dig in! While planning your visit to this beautiful colonial city, leave enough time to enjoy well-known specialties. Antigua Guatemala is a hub for amazing national and international gastronomy. Here, you will find all types of restaurants with incredible views and atmospheres—a selection of dishes with unique ingredients.
Our local foodie expert Lourdes Donis has been photographing food for almost 20 years, “In 2005, I was hired to take pictures for a food magazine and visited most Guatemalan restaurants taking pictures of their best dishes. That was the beginning of my passion for photographing food.” Now, she enjoys visiting new restaurants, trying their most special dishes, and photographing them for her social media. “These five restaurants from Antigua are a mix of new and traditional, local and international, that I think you will really enjoy!”
Café Condesa (Countess Coffee)

This picturesque coffee house was founded in 1993; it is hidden inside a beautiful colonial mansion right in Central Park. Experience a colonial atmosphere where you can sit for hours to enjoy great coffee and the best Tiramisu in town.
Luna de Miel (Honeymoon)
If you are craving something sweet, this is the place to go. “Honeymoon” is famous for its delicious and creative crepes, ice cream cups, and waffles; here, you will find a perfect combination of French flavours and fresh Guatemalan products.

Los tres tiempos (The three meals)

“Three meals a day” is a phrase used in Guatemala at the Tortillerias to let people know that tortillas are always available. This restaurant first started out as a tortilleria and is now a gastronomic experience where traditional Guatemalan recipes full of flavors and textures are transformed into modern dishes. Every plate is decorated and served with creative details that captivate your eyes as much as your taste.
La Cuevita de los Urquizú
If you are looking for a more modest experience, this family-run Guatemalan restaurant has been specializing in traditional homemade dishes for more than 20 years. Walking down the street, you can smell the delicious aromas from their storefront, lined with ceramic pots where a buffet of all kinds of stews and dishes can be ordered.
